Overview

  • NCB officials, with international cooperation, secured Chichkar’s deportation on May 28 after issuing a 2021 Red Notice that led to his location in Malaysia.
  • The investigation began on January 21 with the seizure of about 200 grams of cocaine hidden inside a DHL-sent projector bound for Australia.
  • Follow-up raids in Navi Mumbai recovered 11.54 kg of cocaine, 4.9 kg of cannabis and 5.5 kg of cannabis gummies and resulted in eight arrests.
  • Probes uncovered a US-sourced cocaine pipeline run through clearing house agents and hawala operators, and identified assets linked to the syndicate in Thailand.
  • Authorities plan to interrogate Chichkar to trace further shipment routes and dismantle the hawala-backed financial network.
