An alleged Assam-based kingpin was held, with probes pointing to a Myanmar-to-Bangladesh route.
Overview
- The joint operation near Aizawl was carried out by the NCB’s Agartala zonal office with support from the CRPF.
- Officers seized 5.9 kg of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of about Rs 4.8 crore.
- NCB named Jabrul Hoque of Karimganj, Assam, as the alleged kingpin and described him as a habitual trafficker with prior cases, including one in Tripura.
- Preliminary findings indicate the consignment crossed the India–Myanmar border near Champhai and was headed to Sonamura, Tripura, for trafficking into Bangladesh.
- The arrests come after NCB detained Abu Saleh Md Saifuddin in Guwahati on November 20 as the agency expands Northeast units and deepens interagency coordination.
