Overview

  • Teams from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Railway Protection Force and Crime Intelligence Branch halted the Mangala Express at Panvel on July 18 after receiving actionable intelligence.
  • Nigerian national Etumudon Doris and her infant were detained when officers found two “VINTAGE”-labeled packages in her multicolored travel bag testing positive for 2.002 kg of cocaine.
  • A Mickey Mouse-themed children’s bag held two paper packets marked “Kellogg’s Corn Flakes” and “Bongchi Perfect Roll,” which contained a combined 1.488 kg of methamphetamine.
  • The total haul, valued at approximately Rs 36 crore, was formally taken into NCB custody and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act are now underway.
  • The raid follows a series of intelligence-led interdictions on rail corridors aimed at countering novel concealment methods and transnational trafficking networks.
