Overview
- Of the ₹12,636 crore allocated under the National Clean Air Programme since 2019, cities have spent ₹8,981 crore as of May 27, representing 71% overall utilization.
- Eighty‐two cities funded directly by the environment ministry have used 78.5% of their ₹1,615.47 crore, while 48 cities financed through the 15th Finance Commission have spent 70% of their ₹11,020 crore allotment.
- Delhi recorded one of the lowest rates, spending only ₹13.94 crore or 32.65% of its ₹42.69 crore allocation under the NCAP.
- A total of 14 cities, including Noida (11% utilization), Faridabad (27%) and Vijayawada (41%), have spent less than half their pollution‐control budgets.
- The NCAP aims for a 40% reduction in PM10 pollution in 130 highly polluted cities by 2026, using 2019-20 as the baseline year.
