NCAA Suspends Memphis Coach Penny Hardaway 3 Games for Recruiting Violations

Memphis men's basketball coach Penny Hardaway has been suspended for three games in the 2023-24 season over recruiting violations committed in September 2021.
The violations occurred when coaches made two impermissible in-home recruiting visits with a prospect during his junior year of high school during the 2021-22 academic year.
Hardaway violated head coach responsibility rules "because of his personal involvement in the violations and failure to monitor his staff."
The violations were tied to two in-home visits with a prospect two years ago, which violated NCAA rules.
Hardaway was unaware of the NCAA rule that prohibited in-home visits for juniors except for April of that year.
