Overview
- The Division I Cabinet set 15-day transfer windows that begin the day after each championship game, effective this season: women April 6–20 and men April 7–21.
- A separate 15-day portal opens for players five days after a new head coach is hired or on the 31st day after a departure if no hire has been announced.
- Midyear basketball transfers who enrolled at an NCAA school during the first academic term will not be eligible to compete at a second school.
- The NCAA added postseason unit distributions for both tournaments: one extra unit to each finalist that plays in the title game and another to the national champion, beginning with the 2026 events.
- Other actions included sport-specific portal changes—men’s wrestling to a 30-day window from April 1, men’s ice hockey to 15 days after its final, removal of the indoor track window—plus new National Collegiate Championships in acrobatics & tumbling and stunt and women’s flag football added as an emerging sport.
