Overview
- About 9.8 million homes and businesses with FTTP or HFC connections are eligible when the rollout starts on September 15.
- Eligibility requires a plan of 100 Mbps or higher, and customers on copper-based services such as FTTN or FTTC must upgrade to fibre to benefit.
- NBN 100 plans will lift to maximum downloads of 500 Mbps and NBN 250 to 750 Mbps, with Home Fast, Superfast and Ultrafast all more than doubling and NBN 1000 upload speeds doubling to 100 Mbps.
- Retail providers will apply the boosts automatically with no extra charge for eligible customers, though timing varies by provider, with some switching in October and others already selling NBN 500 tiers.
- NBN is also launching new residential plans advertising up to 2000 Mbps, and customers are urged to check that their home routers and setup can handle higher speeds.
