NBC/SurveyMonkey Poll Finds Trump at 43% Approval as Vaccine Support Stays Overwhelming

A large NBC/SurveyMonkey survey highlights broad vaccine backing despite recent HHS limits.

Overview

  • Nationally, 43% approve and 57% disapprove of the president’s job performance in the NBC/SurveyMonkey poll of 30,196 adults conducted Aug. 13–Sept. 1 (±1.9%).
  • Economic ratings are weakest, with 39% approving of his handling of inflation and 41% approving of trade and tariffs, while 45% cite inflation and cost of living as their top economic concern.
  • Support for vaccines remains high at 78% overall, including 93% of Democrats, 72% of independents and 67% of Republicans, with independents moving 5 points toward opposition since June.
  • Public-health attitudes clash with recent actions as HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. moved to limit certain shots during the field period, the FDA cleared a Covid vaccine with tighter access, and the CDC director was fired, drawing bipartisan scrutiny in Congress.
  • Issue framing shapes views: approval on “border security and immigration” registers at 47% versus 43% when “deportations” is included, Republicans have raised crime and safety as a priority by 5 points since June, and 58% of adults prefer experienced political insiders.
