NBC Will Air Alan Jackson Farewell Special on Dec. 8

The two-hour program packages Jackson’s sold-out Nashville send-off with high-profile guest performances and plans to preserve the concert for release.

Overview

  • NBC announced that the two-hour special Alan Jackson: The Last Show will air on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
  • The program was filmed in June at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium during Jackson’s final, sold-out concert and features performances of many of his best-known hits.
  • A long list of country artists are listed to appear, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, and one report says the show contains two duets with George Strait but that detail has more limited sourcing.
  • Sam Wrench directed the special and it is produced by Joan of Arc StudioWorks and EverWonder Studio with Cindy Mabe, Dawn Gates, Harper Grae and others credited as executive producers.
  • Variety and other outlets say music from the filmed concert will appear on a forthcoming live album titled The Last Show: One More for the Road – The Finale (Live from Nashville), which together with the broadcast aims to preserve Jackson’s farewell as he steps back from touring while managing a degenerative nerve condition.
