NBA Overhauls 2026 All-Star Game With U.S. vs. World Three-Team Tournament

The league is betting a nationality-driven round robin with positionless selection will restore competitiveness during NBC’s Olympic window.

Overview

  • The showcase will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood and air on NBC/Peacock at 5 p.m. ET.
  • Two U.S. squads and one World team will play four 12-minute games in a round robin, with point differential breaking a three-way 1-1 tie to set the final.
  • All-Stars will total 24 (12 per conference), with starters chosen by fans (50%), players (25%) and media (25%), and reserves picked by head coaches; selections are positionless.
  • If voting does not yield at least 16 U.S. players and eight internationals, Commissioner Adam Silver will add players, resulting in at least one roster exceeding eight.
  • The NBA will finalize how U.S. players are split and how coaches are selected later, following years of criticism of listless All-Star play and last season’s panned mini-tournament.
