NBA, Fanatics and Topps Launch In-Game Patch Program for 2025–26 Trading Cards

The initiative ties on-court moments directly to verifiably scarce collectibles authenticated by CGC.

Overview

  • Every 2025–26 rookie will wear an NBA debut patch in his first game that is removed after the final buzzer and embedded into an on-card autographed, one-of-one rookie card.
  • The 2024–25 MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle, and Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley will wear a Gold NBA Logoman patch whose fabric will be inserted into limited cards.
  • Fanatics/Topps announced the program for the coming season as an expansion of debut- and logo-patch products previously used in MLB and MLS.
  • Fanatics says the patches will be authenticated through its partnership with Certified Guaranty Company to ensure provenance.
  • Topps, acquired by Fanatics in 2022, now holds the NBA trading-card license after Panini, setting the stage for continued patch-to-card releases in basketball.
