NBA Disburses Rs 18.3 Lakh to UP, Sikkim BMCs, Following Rs 1.36 Crore Payout

  • The latest tranche was routed through the respective State Biodiversity Boards as Access and Benefit-Sharing payments under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
  • The UP allocation follows a company’s access to crop materials in Narrau for fermentable compounds, while the Sikkim allocation follows research access to microorganisms from Lampokhari Lake samples.
  • A day earlier, the NBA transferred Rs 1.36 crore to BMCs in Sakharwadi and Kunjirwadi in Maharashtra and the Kasganj area in Uttar Pradesh, with Rs 45.50 lakh to each committee.
  • All funds are designated for activities permitted under Section 44 and relevant state rules, with the Ministry citing progress toward NBSAP Target 13 aligned with the KunmingMontreal framework.
