Nayanthara, the lead actor of 'Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food', has issued an apology after the film was accused of hurting Hindu sentiments and promoting 'love jihad'.
The film was removed from Netflix following these allegations and the filing of a First Information Report (FIR).
Controversial scenes include Nayanthara's character offering namaz in a hijab before cooking biryani and a friend allegedly influencing her to cut meat by claiming that Lord Rama and Goddess Sita consumed meat.
Zee Entertainment, a co-producer of the film, also extended a written apology to the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and assured that the film would not be released again until it was edited.
Some netizens have expressed disagreement with the allegations, stating that they found nothing offensive in the movie.
