Navy Reservist and Phillies Pitching Prospect Noah Song Throws Perfect Inning in Return

  • Noah Song, a Philadelphia Phillies prospect, pitched a perfect inning for Class A Clearwater in his first game since joining the organization in February from the U.S. Navy.
  • Song reported to major league spring training on Feb. 23 after being granted a transfer from active duty to the reserves by the Navy.
  • He last pitched in a professional game on Aug. 29, 2019, for Class A Lowell before being shut down on March 11 due to lower back tightness.
  • In his first game back, Song got a pair of fly balls and struck out a batter on a slider, throwing seven of 12 pitches for strikes.
  • Song had an impressive record in 2019, with a 1.06 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 17 innings for Lowell, and a 1.44 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 94 innings during his senior year at Navy.
