Navy Rescues Woman After Shark Attack Off Queensland Coast

A woman in her 50s was bitten by a shark while snorkeling, prompting a navy ship to provide emergency assistance and transport her to safety.

The shark attack occurred roughly 200 kilometers off the coast of Mackay, Queensland, during a snorkeling trip.
The HMAS Warramunga, a navy ship in the area for training exercises, diverted to assist the injured woman.
Emergency services were alerted to the attack around 4:30 PM, and the woman was transported to Mackay Harbour by 12:30 AM.
Navy personnel administered first aid, including a tourniquet, before transferring her to awaiting paramedics onshore.
The woman is currently in stable condition at Mackay Base Hospital, recovering from leg lacerations.
