The ballistic-missile submarine remains in maintenance at Kings Bay under temporary oversight.

  • The Navy cited a loss of confidence in Moreno’s ability to command and did not disclose additional details.
  • Capt. David Burke, the Submarine Squadron 20 deputy for training, assumed temporary responsibility for the submarine.
  • Moreno was temporarily reassigned to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay after taking command of the boat in May 2024.
