Navy Inactivates Large Clandestine Drug Lab in Sinaloa

Intelligence-led federal action removes production capacity, with seized precursors turned over to prosecutors for investigation.

Overview

  • Federal naval forces located and inactivated a roughly 12,000 square meter clandestine laboratory in the poblado Las Tinajas, municipality of Elota, Sinaloa, according to federal statements on Wednesday.
  • Authorities seized 150 liters of liquid chemical precursors and more than 92 kilograms of solid precursors from the site.
  • Investigators also confiscated production machinery and tools, including two vehicles, three distillers, two centrifuges, three mixers, a scale, fans and water pumps.
  • The operation was intelligence-driven and carried out by the Secretaría de Marina with coordination from the SSPC and the FGR, and officials rendered the installations unusable before handing all evidence to ministerial authorities.
  • Federal officials said the action follows earlier lab dismantlings in the region, including late-May seizures in Las Juntas and Corralejo, highlighting persistent clandestine synthetic-drug production and sustained prosecutorial investigations.
