Navy Begins Random Steroid Testing for All Special Operations Units

The Navy will start randomly testing all SEALs and other special operations forces for steroids and PEDs in November.
Testing comes after internal review found evidence of drug use in the wake of a SEAL trainee death earlier this year.
Around 15% of each special operations unit will be tested monthly, totaling 200 sailors across four units.
Army Special Operations Command plans to implement similar random testing in the near future.
Military leaders previously resisted wide-scale testing due to cost and need for specialized labs.
