Navi Mumbai, Panvel Step Up SVEEP Voter Outreach Before Jan. 15 Civic Polls

Officials focus on explaining the new multi-member ward ballot to reduce confusion among voters.

Overview

  • More than 13,000 students from 21 schools in Ghansoli pledged to act as Voter Awareness Ambassadors under the Election Commission’s SVEEP programme.
  • Over 1,100 students, teachers and parents formed a human chain in Koparkhairane to encourage participation in the civic elections.
  • Third-gender citizens led outreach in Vashi, distributing leaflets and urging residents to vote at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Arenja Corner and the Sector 9 Market.
  • Panvel Municipal Corporation ran “My First Vote – My Voice” seminars across colleges and supported a Pillai College walkathon to mobilise first-time voters.
  • NMMC is instructing residents on the new system in which Wards 1–27 require four votes and Ward 28 requires three, guided by Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and SVEEP officials.
