Navi Mumbai International Airport Opens for Commercial Flights With First IndiGo Services

The second gateway for the Mumbai region launches in a phased rollout to ease chronic congestion at the existing hub.

Overview

  • IndiGo flight 6E460 from Bengaluru landed at 8:00 am as the first commercial arrival, followed by the first departure to Hyderabad at 8:40 am.
  • Day one features 15 departures and 15 arrivals by IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Star Air, linking the new airport to nine Indian cities.
  • Initial operations run from 8 am to 8 pm with capacity for up to 10 aircraft movements per hour and a plan to scale to 24x7 service from February 2026.
  • Phase one includes one terminal and one runway designed for 20 million passengers annually, with a five‑phase plan targeting 90 million; the first phase cost about ₹19,650 crore with Adani holding 74% and CIDCO 26%.
  • Ahead of the launch, a 1,515‑drone show showcased themed formations, and passenger processing begins with DigiYatra-enabled checkpoints.
