Navi Mumbai Duo Booked for ‘Aura Farming’ Stunt Under Culpable Homicide Charges

CCTV footage linked the unlicensed drivers to the viral dance on a moving Mercedes before charges were filed under criminal statutes alongside the Motor Vehicles Act.

  • On July 20 a woman performed the trending ‘aura farming’ dance atop a moving Mercedes-Benz in the Kharghar area.
  • Police traced the blurred licence plate via traffic CCTV to 24-year-olds Alfesh Azam Sheikh and Rafique Sulde, who lacked valid driving licences.
  • Sheikh and Sulde were booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections covering rash driving, negligent conduct with machinery, endangering life and attempt to commit culpable homicide.
  • Provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act were also invoked alongside the criminal charges.
  • Both accused were released on notice pending further investigation and have issued public apologies questioning the severity of potential penalties.
