Navi Mumbai Airport to Open Dec. 25 With Akasa’s First Flights, IndiGo to Launch Service

The first phase targets handling up to 20 million passengers to relieve congestion at Mumbai's existing airport.

Overview

  • Akasa Air opened bookings from NMIA to Delhi, Goa (Mopa), Kochi and Ahmedabad, with the maiden Delhi–Navi Mumbai flight scheduled to land at 8:10 a.m. on Dec. 25 and a return at 8:50 a.m.
  • Regular Delhi services begin Dec. 26 with morning arrivals at 8:50 a.m. and departures at 10:55 a.m.; Goa flights run daily except Wednesday; Kochi starts Dec. 26 on Fridays and Saturdays and expands from Dec. 28 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays; Ahmedabad launches Dec. 31 on Wednesdays only.
  • IndiGo said it will start operations on Dec. 25, initially connecting NMIA to ten cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi and Mangaluru.
  • Air India Express and the Air India group announced plans to commence services from NMIA and to ramp up toward about 55 daily departures by mid-2026, including up to five daily international flights.
  • Developed by Adani Airports with CIDCO, the airport’s first phase features a single runway, a terminal with 21 contact gates and integrated road, metro and suburban rail links.
