Navi Mumbai Airport Sets Dec. 25 Launch With Akasa’s First Flight and IndiGo Links to 10 Cities

Early bookings are moving fast, signaling strong demand for Mumbai’s new dual-airport system.

Overview

  • Akasa Air will operate the maiden scheduled service on Dec. 25 with a New Delhi–NMIA flight landing at 8:10 a.m., followed by staggered starts to Goa (Dec. 25), Delhi daily and Kochi (Dec. 26), and Ahmedabad (Dec. 31).
  • IndiGo will begin the same day with nonstops to ten cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi and Mangaluru, with tickets available on its regular sales channels.
  • Both airlines have opened reservations, with many inaugural-day seats filling quickly and published fares drawing close comparisons with Mumbai T2 on identical routes.
  • Social posts highlighted large price gaps on some Akasa itineraries between NMIA and Mumbai T2; the airline said the flagged issue was reviewed and resolved and reiterated plans to expand its network.
  • NMIA will start with a single runway and one terminal operating on a limited daytime schedule (about 8 a.m.–8 p.m.) as carriers outline phased ramp-ups, including Akasa’s target of roughly 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures.
