Overview
- Commercial operations start on December 25 with Akasa Air operating the first scheduled flight, Delhi→NMIA at 05:25–08:10 and the return at 08:50–11:15.
- Akasa’s initial routes link NMIA to Delhi and Goa from December 25, Kochi from December 26, and Ahmedabad from December 31, with frequencies ramping up in stages.
- IndiGo begins the same day with domestic services to ten cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi and Mangaluru.
- Bookings are live on airline platforms, and early fare checks show NMIA–Delhi prices undercut comparable Mumbai–Delhi options from the existing airport on initial dates.
- Phase 1, inaugurated on October 8, features one runway and one terminal with capacity for about 20 million passengers annually, and airlines outline progressive expansion through 2026–27, with Akasa targeting up to 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures.
