Navi Mumbai Airport Secures Security and Immigration Approvals for September Debut

Overview

  • The Maharashtra Home Department has approved 285 immigration officers, including inspectors, sub-inspectors and constables, under a ₹10.10 crore annual staffing plan.
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs sanctioned deployment of 2,000 CISF personnel led by a DIG-rank officer to oversee passenger screening and terminal security.
  • A proposal to establish a 300-strong airport police station staffed by a senior inspector and a 250-member traffic division is under final review to manage on-site law enforcement and congestion.
  • With construction 95% complete, NMIA remains on track for its September 2025 launch and will begin operations handling 30 flights daily.
