Navi Mumbai Airport Clears Full-Scale Passenger Trial Ahead of Dec. 25 Launch

Operations begin in a limited 12-hour window with 23 departures before a planned round-the-clock scale-up in February.

Overview

  • The airport completed its first full-scale passenger simulation on November 29–30, with hundreds of volunteers testing end-to-end processes alongside IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express, CISF and L&T.
  • Commercial service starts on December 25 with operations by IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express from day one.
  • The initial phase will run from 08:00 to 20:00 with up to 10 flight movements per hour and 23 daily departures, ramping to 34 departures with 24-hour operations targeted for February 2026.
  • IndiGo announced new routes from NMIA: daily Coimbatore and Chennai flights from December 29, five-times-weekly Vadodara from December 30 and added North Goa frequencies from December 26.
  • IndiGo’s first arrival is scheduled as flight 6E460 from Bengaluru at 08:00 and the first departure as flight 6E882 to Hyderabad at 08:40.
