Naver Delivers Record Q2 Profit and Sales Fueled by Base Effect and AI Deployments

Platform AI deployments have begun generating revenue alongside gains from last year’s deconsolidation effects.

  • Q2 consolidated net income rose 49.8% year-on-year to 497.4 billion won and operating profit climbed 10.3% to 521.6 billion won as sales hit a record 2.91 trillion won, aided by a base effect from last year’s removal of Naver Z.
  • All key business segments posted year-on-year revenue gains, with search up 5.9%, commerce rising 19.8%, fintech growing 11.7%, content increasing 12.8% and enterprise advancing 5.8%.
  • Its AI-based ad optimization tool ADVoost generated ad revenue from previously unprofitable keywords and lifted return on ad spend by more than 20%.
  • Naver Cloud secured GPU rental roles for the World Best LLM Challenge and was chosen to lead development of Korea’s national large language model, extending the company’s sovereign AI services.
  • The acquisition of Spain’s Wallapop is set to enrich behavioral data for generative AI, underpinning a commerce-specific AI agent this year and an AI Tab rollout next year.
