Navalny Forced to Listen to Pro-Putin Pop Song in Arctic Prison

The jailed Kremlin critic faces a new form of punishment as he is woken up daily by the song 'I am Russian' by Putin supporter 'Shaman'.

Jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, currently in a prison north of the Arctic Circle, is forced to listen to a pro-Putin pop song every morning at 5am.
The song, 'I am Russian', is performed by a singer known as 'Shaman', who has become a staple on Russian state TV and is supporting Putin's bid for re-election.
Navalny, sentenced to stay in prison until he is 74, has previously complained of being poisoned, assaulted, and deprived of proper medical care.
Shaman, whose real name is Yaroslav Dronov, courted controversy when he simulated setting off a nuclear bomb at a concert broadcast on state TV.
Navalny has noted the irony of being played an ultra-nationalist pop song for educational purposes, given that state propaganda had once highlighted his participation in Russian nationalist marches.
