Overview
- Authorities have linked at least 44 infections nationwide, including 18 in New South Wales, to the recalled alfalfa sprouts.
- The recall covers Aussie Sprouts and Hugo’s 125g varieties with use-by dates up to and including 20 November 2025.
- Affected products were sold at Coles, Woolworths, IGA and independent grocers across NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, the Northern Territory and the ACT.
- Symptoms typically begin 6 to 72 hours after exposure and can include headache, fever, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting.
- A multi-jurisdictional investigation is underway with NSW Health and the Department of Primary Industries, and consumers are advised to throw out or return the products for a refund and seek medical care if symptoms are severe or prolonged.
