Nationwide Members Urged to Act Before March 31 as 2026 ‘Fairer Share’ Decision Looms

A decision on any 2026 payment will come in May following a review of the building society’s performance.

Overview

  • Nationwide has not confirmed a 2026 Fairer Share payout and says details will be announced in May, after paying about £400 million to roughly four million members in 2025.
  • Based on previous years, customers should keep a Nationwide current account open and active in January to March and have at least £100 in Nationwide savings or owe £100 or more on a Nationwide mortgage by March 31.
  • Historic usage rules vary by account type: FlexAccount, FlexBasic and FlexDirect have typically needed £500 paid in and two payments out or at least ten payments, FlexPlus requires the monthly fee, and FlexOne, FlexGraduate or FlexStudent need a payment in or out in March.
  • New switchers can receive a separate £175 bonus by completing a full CASS switch within 28 days, paying in £1,000 and making a debit card transaction within 31 days, subject to offer terms.
  • If the scheme runs again, members are usually contacted by the end of May with payments arriving in June, so acting before March 31 maximises the chance of up to £275 when combining the switch bonus with any potential £100 payment.
