Cucumbers grown in Mexico and distributed by multiple companies have been recalled in 35 states, with 68 reported illnesses and 18 hospitalizations.
- The salmonella outbreak has been traced to cucumbers grown by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Sonora, Mexico, and distributed by SunFed Produce, Baloian Farms, and Russ Davis Wholesale.
- The recall affects cucumbers sold between October 12 and November 26 at major retailers, including Walmart, Costco, and Wegmans, across 35 states and five Canadian provinces.
- At least 68 people in 19 U.S. states have been infected, with 18 requiring hospitalization, though no deaths have been reported.
- Recalled products include whole cucumbers and prepared items like salads and wraps containing the contaminated produce; consumers are advised to discard or return these items immediately.
- Symptoms of salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, with vulnerable populations such as young children and the elderly at higher risk of severe illness.
