National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisories for Tompkins County and Northeast Pennsylvania

  • Heat advisories are in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday until 8 p.m. Wednesday for Tompkins County, New York, and nine counties in Northeast Pennsylvania.
  • Tompkins County could see heat index readings near 99°F while several Pennsylvania counties may reach up to 102°F by Wednesday evening.
  • The National Weather Service warns that high heat and humidity increase the risk of heat exhaustion, heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.
  • Residents are urged to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned shelter, limit sun exposure and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
