National Textiles Ministers’ Meet Opens in Guwahati With MoUs to Drive Data-Led Policy

  • On day one, Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh convened state leaders as the two-day conference began in Guwahati under the theme “Weaving Growth, Heritage & Innovation.”
  • The Ministry of Textiles signed MoUs with 15 states under the Tex-RAMPS scheme to strengthen textile statistics and research for evidence-based policymaking.
  • Singh, along with Minister of State Pabitra Margherita and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, inaugurated a Handloom and Handicraft exhibition showcasing Indian craftsmanship.
  • Addressing the inaugural session, Singh urged states and Union Territories to adopt investor-friendly policies to attract greater textile sector investment.
  • A dedicated North-East conclave is slated to spotlight Eri, Muga and Mulberry silk, handlooms, bamboo textiles and women-led enterprises, while states plan policy and investment presentations including Madhya Pradesh’s textile pitch.
