National Taco Day Serves $1 Taco Bell Drops, Free Tacos and the ‘Tacolate’ Comeback

The observance now falls on the first Tuesday in October following a National Day Calendar change after Taco John’s dropped its Taco Tuesday trademark.

Overview

  • Taco Bell is releasing app-only offers every two hours from noon to 10 p.m. ET, including limited $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos, $5 off Party Packs, exclusive shirts, and 100 chances to win “Taco Tuesday for a year” via $160 gift cards.
  • Taco Bell partnered with Salt & Straw to reintroduce the Tacolate, a waffle-taco dessert with ancho chile–cinnamon ice cream, chocolate and puffed rice, paired with Mango Jalapeño and Wildberry Cinnamon sauces.
  • Siete Foods’ Juntos Fund is granting $250,000 to 25 taquerías nationwide, with three in the Los Angeles area offering one free taco per person at Tacos El Torito (La Puente), Villa’s Tacos (Los Angeles) and Yuca’s (Pasadena).
  • National chains and platforms are stacking promotions, including DoorDash buy-one-get-one on tacos, Chuy’s $1 tacos with entrée and costume perk, Del Taco’s free taco with $10 purchase through Oct. 9, and Jack in the Box’s two free tacos with a $1 buy.
  • The National Day Calendar designates Oct. 7 as National Taco Day, marking a recent shift from Oct. 4 to align the celebration with Taco Tuesday.
