Overview
- The exhibition, titled “Islamic Art: A Journey of Splendor,” brings 83 loaned works to Seoul spanning the 7th to 19th centuries and runs through Oct. 11, 2026.
- It is arranged in three sections that explore religious art, the embrace and expansion of Islamic culture, and courtly traditions with manuscripts.
- The new gallery uses an octagonal, dome-like design and features a media-art recreation of the Doha museum’s Damascus Room for an immersive experience.
- Family-friendly elements include tactile materials and a digital area for creating geometric motifs, with a public lecture by Dr. Mounia Chekhab Abudaya scheduled on opening day.
- Museum leaders presented the collaboration as a way to expand global offerings through partnerships and to deepen Korea–Qatar cultural dialogue.
