National Highways to Close Southern Motorways Overnight for Weekend Maintenance
Scheduled overnight to avoid daytime congestion, these works complete a phased scheme enhancing motorway safety and resilience.
Overview
- Nightly closures will affect the M3 and M27 in Hampshire, the M23 and A27 in Sussex and the M25 and Dartford Crossing in Essex from July 11 to July 13.
- Works include resurfacing, new footbridge installations and drainage improvements as part of the network’s final upgrade phase.
- Each closure begins in the late evening and reopens by early morning to minimise disruption to daytime traffic.
- Designated diversion routes are clearly signposted and live updates are available on the National Highways website for journey planning.
- Previous overnight maintenance in May and June targeted safety features, bridges and road surfaces under the same multi-stage infrastructure initiative.
