National Consumer Helpline Processes ₹7.14 Crore in Consumer Refunds Over Two Months

It reduces caseloads on consumer commissions under the 2019 Consumer Protection Act by resolving refund disputes before they reach litigation.

Overview

  • Between April 25 and June 30, 2025, NCH resolved 15,426 refund grievances across 30 sectors, disbursing ₹7.14 crore.
  • E-commerce led with 8,919 complaints and ₹3.69 crore refunded, followed by travel and tourism at ₹81 lakh.
  • Grievances originated nationwide, peaking at 1,242 in Uttar Pradesh and extending to regions like Sikkim and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
  • Consumers accessed the helpline via toll-free 1915, the INGRAM portal, WhatsApp, SMS, email, the NCH app, web portal and UMANG App in 17 languages.
  • The helpline’s digital expansion and stakeholder partnerships have driven record grievance registrations and swift resolutions.
