• The 10-title slate features works by Rabih Alameddine, Susan Choi, Angela Flournoy, Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Megha Majumdar, Kevin Moffett, Karen Russell, Ethan Rutherford, Bryan Washington, and Joy Williams.
• Two authors are first-time novelists—Moffett and Rutherford—while Joy Williams’ The Pelican Child is the list’s sole short story collection.
• The fiction panel is chaired by Rumaan Alam with judges Debra Magpie Earling, Attica Locke, Elizabeth McCracken, and Cody Morrison.
• Longlists of 10 books in nonfiction, poetry, translated literature, and young people’s literature were also released, with nominees including Yiyun Li and Nobel laureate Han Kang.
• The Nov. 19 ceremony in Manhattan will also present honorary awards to George Saunders and Roxane Gay.
