Overview
- Exhibitions open in Kansas City on March 6–22 at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, then continue to Atlanta, Los Angeles, Houston, Denver, Miami, Dearborn and Seattle through August 16.
- The traveling set features an original 1823 engraving of the Declaration of Independence, a secret draft printing of the Constitution, the Treaty of Paris signed by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay, the Articles of Association, and oaths of allegiance by George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr.
- A specially outfitted Boeing 737 will carry the documents between cities, with displays mounted inside host museums rather than on the aircraft.
- Admission will be free at all eight venues, with visitors required to reserve timed tickets from the hosting institutions.
- Organizers say the initiative is inspired by the 1976 Bicentennial Freedom Train and is backed by the National Archives Foundation with support from Boeing, Comcast, Microsoft and Procter & Gamble.
