Natilus Launches India Unit, Secures Conditional 100-Jet SpiceJet Deal for Blended-Wing Airliner

SpiceJet's commitment is contingent on DGCA certification, with Natilus seeking FAA approval for its HORIZON design.

Overview

  • Natilus established Natilus India in Mumbai to support sales, certification work and local supply-chain sourcing.
  • SpiceJet said it will assist the DGCA process and plans to buy 100 HORIZON aircraft once approvals are secured.
  • The startup is evaluating Indian manufacturing and says a local facility could build about 300 jets after it is set up.
  • HORIZON is designed for up to 240 passengers with a blended-wing-body layout that Natilus says offers about 40% more cabin space and large cuts to fuel use and operating costs.
  • Natilus projects an early-2030s entry into service and reports more than 570 aircraft in its commercial backlog valued at about $8.7 billion.
