Overview

  • In June she pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of William Ray, 17, and Eddie Shore, 18, and to causing serious injury by dangerous driving to another passenger.
  • Judge James House KC also disqualified her from driving for more than 12 years and required an extended retest before any licence restoration.
  • Prosecutors said data showed speeds up to 96mph, braking only 37 metres before impact, and an estimated 70mph strike on a stationary Ford Fiesta at temporary lights visible from 620 metres.
  • The court heard she lied for over an hour at the scene about who was driving as her two young daughters looked on.
  • Reporting noted she took sips of lager yet tested below the legal alcohol limit, and her record included a January disqualification for failing to identify drivers in two speeding cases close to the crash dates.
