- John Drake Jr., the estranged son of Nashville Police Chief John Drake and a convicted felon, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in a shed in south Nashville. Drake Jr., 38, was being sought for allegedly shooting two La Vergne Police officers while they were investigating a stolen vehicle.
- Drake Jr. had stolen a car at gunpoint and led police on a brief chase on Tuesday evening before crashing the car, fleeing into a shed, and apparently shooting himself as officers approached.
- The two police officers that Drake Jr. allegedly shot, Ashely Boleyjack and Gregory Kern, were treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their injuries and subsequently released.
- Chief John Drake, who has had minimal contact with his son over the years, publicly identified Drake Jr. as a suspect and called for his arrest following the shooting of the officers.
- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the circumstances of Drake Jr.'s death, which concluded a statewide manhunt for him that lasted several days.
