Nashik’s Ozar Airport Expansion Cleared With ₹556-Crore Plan, March 2027 Deadline

Officials ordered an HAL pact alongside regulatory clearances to push the upgrade into execution.

Overview

  • Administrative approval was issued by the Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Development Authority at a meeting on November 19, 2025.
  • The plan includes a new integrated terminal of about 17,800 sq m, an apron of roughly 1,15,220 sq m, and a 25,000 sq m parking area with aero bridges and security scanners.
  • Passenger handling capacity is set to rise from 300 to 1,000 people per hour after the expansion.
  • A state–HAL Memorandum of Understanding is to be finalized, and officials were told to seek DGCA, BCAS, and Aerodrome Emergency Management Committee permissions.
  • The upgrade is tied to the Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled from October 31, 2026 to July 24, 2028, with authorities also citing longer-term connectivity and employment gains.
