Overview
- The Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Development Authority granted administrative approval for a new integrated terminal and associated works at Ozar.
- Divisional commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam directed officials to initiate the project steps immediately to achieve completion before March 2027.
- Planned upgrades include a 17,800 sq m terminal, a 115,220 sq m apron, a 25,000 sq m parking area, plus passenger boarding bridges and security scanners.
- The expansion is designed to raise throughput from 300 to 1,000 passengers per hour to handle Simhastha Kumbh Mela traffic scheduled from October 31, 2026 to July 24, 2028.
- HAL maintains the airport about 20 km from Nashik, which currently operates flights to New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru with night-landing capability.
