NASCAR Levies Historic Penalties on Stewart-Haas Racing for Counterfeit Car Part

Chase Briscoe and Stewart-Haas Racing received one of the largest penalties in NASCAR history after officials found a counterfeit engine panel duct on Briscoe's car.
NASCAR docked Briscoe and SHR 120 driver/owner points, 25 playoff points, and suspended crew chief Johnny Klausmeier for six weeks along with a $250,000 fine.
Briscoe drops from 17th to 31st in the point standings, damaging his playoff hopes.
NASCAR is penalizing teams more often for modifying or counterfeiting parts on the Next Gen car.
SHR accepted the penalties and will not appeal NASCAR's decision.
