NASCAR Fines Carson Hocevar $50,000 for Endangering Safety Workers at Kansas

The sanction is his second behavioral penalty of 2025 following a post–Mexico City incident earlier this year.

Overview

  • NASCAR said Hocevar revved the engine and spun his tires while responders were attending his stopped car after a late-race spin at Kansas Speedway.
  • The incident followed an initial backstretch spin and flat tires that left the No. 77 unable to move and brought out a caution.
  • Race reports noted Hocevar also collided with J.J. Yeley for the fifth caution, was collected in an 11-car restart crash tied to contact from Ross Chastain, and later spun after contact from Chris Buescher to force overtime.
  • This $50,000 penalty is his second this year, with an earlier $50,000 punishment issued after insensitive remarks following the Mexico City race.
  • The only other penalty from the weekend was a $5,000 fine to Xfinity driver Nick Sanchez for unsecured lug nuts on the No. 48 Big Machine Racing Chevrolet.
