NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski chose to miss the qualifying round for the season finale to be present for the birth of his son in North Carolina.
Cole Custer stepped in to qualify the No. 6 Ford at Phoenix Raceway in Keselowski's absence.
Despite skipping the qualifying round, Keselowski is expected to return to Phoenix, Arizona in time for Sunday's main race.
Keselowski is a co-owner of RFK Racing, the team for which he also drives.
This is the first son for Keselowski and his wife, Paige, who already have two daughters.
