NASCAR Confirms Charlotte Tripleheader as Fall Cup Returns to Oval

Returning the Fall Cup to the 1.5-mile oval raises the stakes for the Chase.

Overview

  • Organizers published a three-day schedule for Oct. 9–11 that lists Cup practice at 1:00 p.m. ET and qualifying at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday and the Bank of America 400 as a 267-lap race at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
  • Broadcast plans are set: the Cup race will air on USA Network with streaming on HBO Max and radio coverage on PRN and SiriusXM, while the Craftsman Truck Series runs Friday on FOX and the O’Reilly race Saturday on The CW/ESPN.
  • A public Kyle Busch Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday night at 8:00 p.m. ET on the frontstretch with guest speakers and a display of Busch’s cars following the Truck race.
  • The Fall Cup returns to Charlotte’s 1.5-mile oval for the first time since 2017, forcing teams to change setups and race strategy for intermediate-oval tire, aero, and pit-stop demands that differ from the Roval road-course layout.
  • Wood Brothers Racing will mark its 125th Cup start on Charlotte’s oval with Josh Berry in the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford, and the weekend’s results will carry weight for drivers competing in Race No. 6 of the 10-race Cup Series Chase.
