NASA's Artemis II Rocket Core Begins Journey to Kennedy Space Center

The Space Launch System core stage embarks on a 900-mile trip for final preparations ahead of the next crewed lunar mission.

The 212-foot core stage was transported from NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility to the Pegasus barge.
Upon arrival at Kennedy Space Center, the core stage will be integrated with the Orion spacecraft and other rocket components.
Artemis II aims to send four astronauts around the Moon in 2025, marking the first crewed lunar mission since Apollo 17 in 1972.
This mission will include the first woman, person of color, and international partner to orbit the Moon.
NASA's Artemis program plans to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon, paving the way for future Mars missions.
