Overview

  • After completing final technical reviews, NISAR is fully integrated on ISRO’s GSLV-F16 at Sriharikota and set to lift off on July 30.
  • Live coverage begins at 7 a.m. EDT on NASA+ and YouTube, with NASA fielding questions via #AskNISAR and media participants invited to the prelaunch briefing.
  • NISAR carries dual-frequency S-band and L-band synthetic aperture radars that will map nearly all land and ice surfaces twice every 12 days in all weather and light conditions.
  • The satellite’s open-data policy will deliver high-resolution imagery within 1–2 days of acquisition and within hours for emergency response tasks.
  • Costing over $1.3 billion and featuring the largest deployable spaceborne radar antenna, NISAR will support climate research, disaster preparedness, agricultural monitoring and infrastructure assessment.
